This is all new to me but like the saying goes when life gives you lemons... I got inspiration to post and spread positivity almost a year ago when I got my tattoo to remind me of why I am the person I have become. The tattoo states "never forget who you are" no one should compare themselves to others and your life cannot be determined by the mind of someone else. Your journey is unique. I've always been told I'm a social butterfly and I'd like to consider myself to be quite an uplifting person to whoever's path crosses mine.
During these strange times it's easy to fall into a routine of self doubt. All these influencers on social media and people around you showing their home workouts making you feel like you should get up and move because you have so much time on your hands. One day I can do 20,000 steps without leaving the house but the next all I want to do is sit and eat mini eggs. This is where people have to know this is alright. Life is too short to worry about how many calories are in a cheeseburger compared to a Greek salad. Take this time of self isolation as a time to slow down. Catch up on trashy tv if that is you, learn a new skill ( I tried to learn to do 10 keep ups with a football.. turns out I should stick to netball.)
The world can be a scary place and with the heightened news of the media it is important that people keep their spirits high. These are just some of my tips on how I achieve this during isolation. 1. Watch something light hearted that you enjoy ( Disney+, YouTube, a favourite film or tv series.) 2. FaceTime or ring loved ones - ringing and checking in on someone else can not only have an impact on you but also impact their whole day by being positive yourself it can rub off and make someone else feel the same. 3. Find positive quotes that you can relate too - I enjoy finding some on Pinterest if I'm having a bad day I will change it to my lock screen so I every time I pick up my phone I am reminded of why everything is going to be ok. 4. Bake / cook - something I haven't done but I know for many this can be rather calming and enjoyable ( also means you have something delicious to look forward to.) 5. Draw, colour or read a book - colouring or drawing with some music in the background is such a therapeutic method to use when you just need to escape from the world. 6. Do a small workout - getting my heart racing always makes me feel better this can be something so simple like hoovering the house to running/ skipping or following an online workout 7. Finally, spending time with whoever you have self isolated with, family/ boyfriend or girlfriend/ friends. Life is so fast paced most of the time and people are always going out and about everywhere so take this time to appreciate who you have around you, have a laugh, get to know each other more or sit on the sofa all day! In essence, reach out to each other, reconnect with an old friendship who you cut ties with. Life is about growing and not holding on to the past. Another quote from the lion king that I love to live by ... "the past can hurt but the way I see it is you can either run from it or learn from it." This is my way of reaching out to people If you feel like you need someone to talk to i’m open ears. And if you have any other ways on how you stay positive i’d love to hear. Keep safe, stay well and stay indoors.🦋🌈
