Fika - a moment to slow down and appreciate the good things in life.

This weeks taught me a lot in a short space of time. When you post an image, video, post on social media it is one sniper of your day that snip it could have been an hour out of 24 or it could have been an on going process all day. My point is. Don't let others opinions dampen your mood, they don't know what is going on in your life. I've Taken a back seat from social media this week and it's proven how much happier you can be just to enjoy what's going on around you. I've been focusing on helping the people around me, topping up my "golden glow" as my family would say as I can't quite master tanning.

If anyone wants to take a break from what's around them, go on your allocates daily 'exercise' and go for a walk with no technology. Class it as a learning walk that could be learning about yourself let the thoughts in your head run free, let them "silly questions" go into the open or take in your surroundings and learn something new about where you live, life is full of many beautiful things.

If you want to practice overcoming a dark time in your life you can practice by painting the words on yourself so you can see the hurtful words people may have called you or perhaps related to a certain situation and then wash them away for good showing that you have power over the situation rather than letting other people control how feel.

I found myself struggling with motivation to stick at my university work this week but as many people have told me, if it's not working today don't force it. Everything comes with time, I've always been someone to not take the easy route in life and never want to seem like I'm failing myself therefore taking extensions for deadlines has never entered my mind. Until this week I realised with the current situation we are in why should I let myself suffer in silence.

I don't just float about being positive because I like to be a positive lolly it's because of the many health benefits that come with it such as:

  • Increased life span

  • Lower rates of depression

  • Lower levels of distress

  • Greater resistance to the common cold

  • Better psychological and physical well-being

  • Better cardiovascular health and reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease

  • Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress

Being and staying positive doesn't mean you're always the one who stands out in the crowd it just means being able to approach unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. Take things slowly and take every stride into consideration when you try to go too fast your body will start to go on over drive therefore, eat slower, talk slower and walk slower are just a few simple steps on how to keep yourself in line. Don't ever feel alone please reach out if you need it. Some times you find the best in people when you least expect too.

Some wise words from Peter McWilliams and Anais Nin,

“to avoid situations in which you might make mistakes may be the biggest mistake of all” ... “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.”
